New Year’s Eve


This year we’re going to be staying open past midnight on New Year’s Eve for the first time ever! We hope you’ll join us for a special menu curated by Chef Luke (in addition to our regular offerings). We’ll also have live music from Keith Scott from 9:30-12:30, and at midnight we’ll be dropping a barrel and raising a toast of carbonated cocktails. We are accepting reservations for parties of all sizes. To make a reservation, please call the distillery at 269-820-2050.

Thanksgiving Cocktail Ideas

Here are some of the cocktails we’ll be enjoying around the dinner table this Thanksgiving.



The taste of fall.

2 oz. WR Whiskey (if ambitious, infuse with rosemary a few days before)
1 oz. acorn squash simple syrup
Orange twist
Rosemary sprig

1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.
2. Add WR Whiskey and acorn squash simple syrup (recipe below). Stir.
3. Strain into rocks glass.
4. Twist an orange over top and top with soda.
5. Light a sprig of rosemary on fire and use to garnish.

Acorn Squash Simple Syrup

16 oz. sugar
32 oz. water
1 seeded, skinned acorn squash
6 bay leaves
12 all spice pods

Combine ingredients in a pot and heat to barely a boil. Strain and cool.



Harvest Mule

A fall twist on a classic cocktail.

1 1/2 oz. Red Arrow Vodka
1 oz. pumpkin simple syrup
1 oz. lemon simple syrup
1 oz. orange simple syrup
Ginger beer

1. Fill shaker with ice.
2. Add vodka and simple syrups. Shake.
3. Strain into collins glass filled with ice.
4. Top with ginger beer.

Pumpkin Simple Syrup

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Dash nutmeg

Combine ingredients in pot and heat to barely a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.

Orange Simple Syrup

6 oz. orange marmalade
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup honey
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup sugar

Combine ingredients in pot and heat to barely a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.

Lemon Simple Syrup

2 lemons, sliced
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup water

Combine ingredients in pot and heat to barely a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.




It doesn’t get much easier than this.

1. Buy a bottle or six of OCG
2. Pour OCG into a pot or crock pot
3. Turn stove or crock pot to low, warm up OCG (Do not boil)
4. Pour into glasses, taste fall in a glass

The Next Step On Our Journey: Staymaker


If you have been to the distillery in the past eight months, you probably noticed some construction going on. On September 30 we began another chapter in the Journeyman story. That day we opened a new full-service restaurant, Staymaker, just in time for our 4-year anniversary celebration on October 3.

Staymaker takes its name from our location in the historic Featherbone Factory and the building’s past as a production facility for corsets. A staymaker was a person who made corsets.

We have long wanted to add a full-service restaurant to the distillery to expand our dining options. We have also been running our two stills at near-capacity and have been needing a second production space to keep ahead of demand. So when the northern half of the Featherbone Factory became available last year, we jumped at the opportunity to address both of those needs.

The 125-seat restaurant offers an inventive twist on classic dishes, making use of local ingredients whenever possible. The spirit of the distillery is apparent in many of the dishes. Our Detroit-style pizzas, a rectangular deep dish pizza with a unique baking method that creates a highly-caramelized crust, feature a choice of crusts made from the same grain bills that go into our Last Feather Rye and Featherbone Bourbon. The mussels are steamed in our apple cider liqueur, Old Country Goodness (O.C.G.) and the olives on the Journeyman Pizza are brined in the botanicals used to flavor Bilberry Black Hearts Gin.

Six taps have been installed to offer cocktails and coffee on draft. Currently on tap are O.C.G., a negroni americano, a Buggy Whip Wheat-based cocktail with added hops, and nitro coffee. The coffee is a proprietary blend made for the restaurant by Chicago’s Sparrow Coffee Roastery.

The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with the tables overlooking the new production facility at the northern end of the building. The first and second floors have been cut out in the production area to accommodate the larger equipment, creating a vast open space. You can walk right up to metal railings and peer down at the distillers at work.

Staymaker will celebrate its official grand opening on October 31. The celebration will include a small release of our cask-strength wheat whiskey, Corsets, Whips and Whiskey.

The renovation also includes a 500-person event space perfect for weddings and corporate meetings above the original distillery. Staymaker has its own dedicated entrances but may also be accessed through the original distillery and tasting room.

Fall Artisan Market Vendor Call Out

The Fall Artisan Market will be held Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22 this year. This annual event, one of the biggest held at the distillery, brings together artists, artisans and makers in a pop-up market at the distillery. Browse a varied selection of unique goods, from clothing to jewelry to home decor to food, while enjoying craft cocktails and spirits.

We’re pleased to announce that this year’s Market will be held in our newly renovated upstairs event space, Warren Hall. The spacious hall features the original exposed brick and wood columns of the Featherbone Factory while adding new touches like floors made from reclaimed wood and an elevator for easier load-in and load-out for our vendors.
